Safe-Xtract video demonstrating how to set up a Double Line Pull (DLP), one of the more common winch configuration: Safe-Xtract DPL video. Some people see the Double Line Pull (or DLP) winching configuration as a way to nearly double the capacity of your winch, and in theory this is true. However in more practical terms DLP is a way to reduce the loading on your winch when you are operating at or near winch capacity, since for many reasons it is difficult to sustain winching operations at capacity. The tradeoff with DLP comes in that some components in the DLP setup will receive loading equal to approximately twice winch capacity. Because of this, before you find yourself in need of a DLP setup it is important to ensure your vehicle recovery kit includes components that are properly sized to do this.
